Skin Care

Don’t spend big bucks on a luxurious spa treatment when you can get the royal treatment in the comfort of your own home.
  • Whip up a fantastic facial by mixing 2 tablespoons of whole milk with 2 teaspoons of warm (not hot!) honey. Rinse your face, massage the cleanser in for a couple of minutes, then rinse it off and pat yourself dry with a soft towel. Next, fill your tub with warm water, add 2 cups of nonfat powdered milk to the flow, and soak for as long as you want. Your skin will drink it up! Pat yourself dry when you get out of the tub, and slip into a cozy robe. Your whole body will feel relaxed, moisturized, and refreshed.
  • If you live in a dry climate, or are exposed to drying indoor heat, your skin probably feels as crackly as an old paper bag. Try one of these old-time remedies to go from dry to dewy:
    • After bathing, while your skin’s still damp, slather on almond or sunflower oil. And if you’d rather not smell like a Caesar salad, add a few drops of lavender oil to the mix.
    • Make a mixture of equal parts of honey and milk, then toss it into a blender and add some apricots, avocado, or coconut oil. Apply the resulting paste head to toe like a body lotion. It feels silky smooth going on, and you can keep the leftovers in the fridge to massage into your skin whenever you need it.
    • Make a big pot of oatmeal, let it cool a bit, and slather it on your lightly oiled skin from head to toe. When it’s dry, soak it off in a warm tub.
